Hi, I'm Wendy.
I have been traveling since I was eleven years old, when my parents sent me to Mexico on a student exchange program. That trip changed something in me permanently. I came home knowing that the world was bigger than I had imagined, and that I wanted to keep finding out how big.
That was the beginning. Since then, I have lived in Hawaii, built a life in Colorado, worked as a professional ski instructor in the Colorado mountains, spent years in education as a teacher and gifted program coordinator, and eventually found my way to a career in luxury travel. I speak Spanish and Portuguese, have a working knowledge of French, and have traveled extensively across the United States, Mexico, Europe, and beyond.
Paul and I eloped in Portugal in 2023, beginning the next chapter of our adventure together.
Paul, my husband and adventure partner, and I are in the middle of a deliberate life reinvention. We left Eagle County, moved to the Four Corners region of Colorado, bought a home that I designed and renovated myself, and have been navigating the beautiful, complicated work of building something new. We are now putting down roots in Montrose while holding onto a larger dream: a small place in the Girona region of Spain, a home base in Colorado, and a life that genuinely earns its name: The Best of Both Worlds.
This blog is where I document that process honestly, including the parts that worked, the parts that didn't, and the parts that are still unresolved. It is about traveling with intention, making real decisions, and building a life that actually fits.
Writing Has Always Been Part of the Journey
Although travel may be what first draws people here, writing has been the thread connecting every chapter of my life.
I began writing poetry in college and worked for my university's poetry publication while earning a degree in Behavioral Sciences. I went on to complete an accelerated Master's in Teaching, where research, writing, and communication became central to my work.
Over the next two decades, writing became an essential part of my career. As a teacher and later a gifted education coordinator, I created curriculum, educational resources, newsletters, website content, presentations, and district publications designed to help people understand complex ideas. In 2007, long before today's website builders made publishing easy, I built my own classroom website because I believed people deserved information that was clear, useful, and engaging.
Today, those same communication skills shape everything I create. Whether I'm writing about travel, documenting life's unexpected turns, or helping small businesses develop authentic content, my goal remains the same: to create thoughtful writing that informs, connects, and builds trust over time.
If you're a small business owner interested in working together, I'd love to hear from you. Visit my Work With Me page to learn more.
I am glad you found this. Pull up a chair.
